Jazz in the Clarendon Hill Sanctuary
A Nave Gallery Anniversary Celebration & Fundraiser!
Featuring the Ruthie Ristich Quartet

The concert will be followed by a reception to meet
the musicians afterwards in the Nave Gallery. All proceeds of this concert are being donated to ARTSomerville.
(Somerville, MA) The Ruthie Ristich Quartet will perform a concert of innovative jazz arrangements of timeless material ranging in theme from love, mystery,
and humor in honor of the one-year anniversary of the
Nave Gallery, Somerville's newest nonprofit art space.
Ruthie Ristich has a warm, honey toned singing voice
and anyone who digs fine jazz vocals, and expert highly musical accompaniment with a dash of African and Latin flavor will love this concert.
The Boston Globe has called Ruthie Ristich "a jazz
artist of uncommon range and depth of feeling". A
versatile vocalist/arranger, Ruthie has been an active
performer and group leader for more than two decades,
focusing on lyrical music that tells a story or
carries a message. Ms. Ristich will be performing
songs from her recently released CD, Carefully Taught
(Skydancer Productions) which is receiving accolades
from the music industry. Reviewers say she has
unusual ability to take oft-recorded music that moves
her and make it her own, from a new English version of
the Brazilian Samba de Orfeo to reharmonizations of
the title track, and I Only Have Eyes for You. She
creates distinctive arrangements of standards like
Midnight Sun and Easy to Love and adds a new dimension
to "bending" a note in It's Nice Weather for Ducks.
Her voice sounds ethereal on Never Never Land and the
wistful simplicity of Where is Love? is deeply
touching.
On June 24th the Ruthie Ristich Quartet will include:
